Club Penguin has released an iOS app and it’s a big one! It’s feature packed and allows you to do a lot without actually logging into the Club Penguin game. It’s currently only out on iOS but it may well make it to other platforms on the future. Forum member Dr Legolas fortunately owns an iOS device and has provided us with a review of what the app is about!
Read on to see how you can dress your penguin, earn coins and chat with friends all from your tablet!
From the main screen of the app you’ll see plenty of options to get you started. Across the bottom menu you have access to Me, Friends, Store, Blog and Videos. You login to the app with the same details you use on Club Penguin so everything is connected directly to your account and your penguin will appear customised on the main screen!
You can also that the app has some minigames available to play right on your tablet where you can upload coins you earn straight to your account.
Selecting the Me button will take you to a playercard screen and your inventory where you can look through all your items and change your penguin’s items!
There store button on the playercard and the main screen will both take you to catalogues from which you can buy items just as you do within the game on your browser. Nearly all of the functionality of buying clothes and dressing your penguin is accessible from the app and changes you make should reflect on your penguin when you login on the computer. The catalogues in the app match those available in game so you’re not missing out on anything, they even have exclusive items that you can only buy through the app!
There are also a selection of minigames the app has to offer, including Ice Fishing, Puffle Rescue, Rollerscape and a new game, Sushi Drop! All these games can be used to earn coins which will upload to your account and you can spend on items in game or in the app. There’s also an unreleased game that you should keep your eye out for!
GS that’s all there is to it? Nope! You can also chat and throw snowballs with your friends from within the app and see how their penguins are dressed too! Apart from waddling around in the island this app has nearly the entire feature set of Club Penguin apart from a few games and igloos. This is a very interesting direction Disney has taken with Club Penguin and in the future we could be seeing a Club Penguin that resembles a mini-game site coupled with social network features (chat and playercards/avatars already existing). Whatever the direction Disney are heading this app is great for playing Club Penguin on the go or when you can’t access a computer. We at Club Penguin Insiders are keeping our eye on this and hope that it will come to other platforms, namely Android, soon!
